PITTA DOSHA

- THE FORCE OF TRANSFORMATION

is ruled by the elements of fire & water, fire being the primary element. The qualities of a pitta dosha are hot, sharp, light, liquid, spreading, a little oily or excessively oily, & sour. Pitta commonly translates as "that which digests things". It is responsible for our ability to biologically digest our food & mentally digest our life experiences. Pitta is also responsible for all of our chemical & metabolic transformations.

the skin of a pitta dosha

when balanced is naturally warm to touch, sensitive, dewy & rosy. This skin type may also have freckles beauty marks &/ moles. When out of balance, it is usually susceptible to rashes, inflammation, acne, rosacea, excess oil, broken capillaries, blemishes, wrinkles & redness.

TO KEEP PITA SKIN BALANCED,

This skin type needs both cooling & nurturing. Always have sunblock/sunscreen handy, especially in the summer! Avoid tanning treatments that expose your delicate skin to steam for extended periods of time. Refrain from using synthetic cosmetics as these can cause damage & breakouts. Eat lots of fruits, leafy greens, herbs, turmeric, raw veggies & legumes. Use natural & gentle skincare products when cleansing and moisturizing.

kapha dOsha

- THE FORCE OF STABILITY

is ruled by the elements of earth and water. The qualities of a kapha dosa are cold, oily, dull, slimy, soft, dense & heavy. The kapha dosha grounds & stabilizes the elements that create it, thus why it is known as the force of stability. Its functions are to lubricate, support & secrete.

THE SKIN OF A KAPHA DOSHA

when balanced, is pale, supple, cold soft, moist & smooth. This skin type may also have fewer wrinkles than most people. When out of balance, kapha skin is prone to enlarged pores, blackheads, blemishes & excess oil.

To keep kapha skin balanced,

this skin type needs both warming & detoxifying products. These products would rid of excess oil on the skin, make the skin soft & supple enough for extractions (if needed), & prevent future break outs. Gentle exfoliating clay & corn flour, can help remove excess oil, dirt & grime from under the skin. Avoid deep-fried foods & sweets as these foods can add excess oil on the skin. "You are what you eat." Eat lots of veggies & fruits to help cleanse within. It is vital that we exfoliate every 3-4 days & cleanse our skin day & night to balance our doshas & keep up with our skin's natural cell renewal. Mud & seaweed masks are recommended as these masks both absorb the dirt & grime that are clogged in our pores (of course not together, separately).

VATA DOSHA

- THE FORCE OF MOTION

is made of the elements air & ether. The qualities of a vata dosha are light, dry, cold, mobile, rough, subtle & clear. Vata allows us to navigate our thoughts, actions & feelings. It supports our breath & nervous system creating an equilibrium in between our tissues & organs. "The movement of our life force (prana) is regulated by vata & its function allows us to inspire (inhale) & to surrender (exhale) with ease as well"

THE SKIN OF A VATA DOSHA

when balanced is slightly cold to touch, has small pores, is mostly dry & has little to no blemishes. When out of balance this skin type is usually delicate, thin & prone to excess dryness, rough skin, blackheads & fine lines/wrinkles.

TO KEEP VATA SKIN BALANCED

this skin type needs moisture, nourishment & strength. Cleansing daily & exfoliating every 3-4 days is vital for healthy skin. This will prevent future breakouts & signs of aging. Drink lots of Luke warm water throughout the day for internal hydration. Eat plenty of sweet, juicy fruits as these provide vitamins, hydration & many more benefits to our skin. Use a gentle moisturizer in your routine, NEVER BODY LOTION OR BODY SOAP on your face! Keep sunscreen on hand in the summer as the sun can be very drying to our delicate skin, especially on our foreheads, its the first thing the sun sees!
